I am a mother of 6 children, all of whom are grown except two. We live in Toney, Alabama. We love our kitties and also have a love of art of all kinds. A lot of time and effort has gone in to the raising of our children and also in the raising of our Maine coons.
20 years ago, my husband got me a Maine coon for Christmas one year and I fell in love with the breed! I started learning all I could about them and it really made me want to share this magnificent breed with the world.
Our Cattery started in our house. We have a wrap around porch so we built in one side of our porch so we could have a catio for our guys. They loved having the porch to go outside. When we grew we bought a barn and a smaller building for our breeders. We built enclosures off the back so they have an outdoor area to play and roam! They live a very happy life here at Rocket City Coons!
Genetics and health are top priority with my cats. We genetically test all of our cats, ensuring all of our breeders are completely healthy before breeding. We test the upper and lower GI and common genetic issues like HCM. We want only the healthiest cats for our breeding program. We feed our cats the highest quality food (there’s more about this on my love branch website) we are very conscientious about the health of our cats and kittens. We also give regular supplements and vitamins and herbs depending on the time of year. We have a naturalist/wholistic point of view when it comes to the health of our cats.
